Workers ended up being happy because it cut down the number of hours to produce thread and more jobs were available as supply increased. So when we think about IR 4.0 and feel the same fear, I recall a treasured quote by Erica Jong who once said: “I have accepted fear as a part of life – specifically the fear of change… I have gone ahead despite the pounding in the heart that says: turn back.” I think with IR 4.0 there is a lot of fear of the changes that the new technologies will bring, but I think we should embrace this fear and welcome new possibilities. The youths of Malaysia especially should be excited about this new decade of change. We hold the key to social change and the technology that powers it.
